MDF Picture Frame Backing Boards

Debex Suisse AG manufactures and supplies MDF backing boards for picture frames, photo frames and poster frames in wholesale quantities. Our backing boards are produced at our factory in Senica, Slovakia, cut to exact frame dimensions and available with a range of closing and mounting hardware pre-installed. As a full-service frame manufacturer, we supply backing boards both as standalone components for professional framers and as integrated parts of our complete frame assemblies. All MDF boards are available with FSC® certification, confirming that the wood fibre originates from responsibly managed forests.

Types of Backing Boards Available

MDF Backing Board with Turning Clips – for Aluminium and Plastic Frames

Our standard aluminium and plastic frame backing board is cut from 2.5 mm MDF and fitted with metal turning clips (also called turn buttons or pivot clips). The turning clips allow quick content changes without tools — the board is removed by rotating the clips, artwork is inserted or changed, and the board is repositioned. Supplied with sawtooth hanger or D-ring pre-installed for wall hanging.

MDF Backing Board with Turning Clips – for Wooden Frames

Identical construction to the aluminium-frame variant, but with a slightly different clip profile to match the deeper rebate of solid wood and MDF frames. Turning clips are zinc-coated for durability.

MDF Easel Backing Board with Turning Clips – for Wooden Frames

This backing board includes an integrated cardboard or MDF easel leg for tabletop or shelf display. The easel folds flat against the board when the frame is hung on a wall, providing dual-display functionality. Popular for photo frames and gift frames.

MDF Backing Board with Adjustable Easel

A more robust easel variant featuring an adjustable-angle MDF or cardboard easel secured with a brass rivet. The adjustable easel allows the display angle to be set by the end consumer, making it suitable for premium photo frames and award frames.

MDF Easel Backing Board – Plain (No Clips)

A flat MDF backing board with easel leg only — no turning clips. Designed for frames where the back panel is secured by other means (corner springs, flexible tabs or friction fit). Often used in combination with our spring clips hardware.

MDF Backing Board – Cut to Size, 2.5 mm

Plain cut-to-size MDF boards without any pre-installed hardware. Suitable for framers who wish to install their own clips, springs or hanging hardware, or who are producing frames with non-standard closing systems. Available in any custom dimension.

FSC Certification and Sustainability

FSC® Certified Backing Boards All MDF backing boards supplied by Debex Suisse AG are FSC® certified (FSC-C016785). FSC certification guarantees that the wood fibre used in MDF production originates from forests that are managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. If your frame products carry an FSC claim, our certified backing boards support that chain of custody.
